| Express Global Logistics (EXG) successfully executed the multimodal transportation of 8 over-dimensional cargo (ODC) units in 2 barge trips, with a total shipment weight of approximately 905.6 MT. The project involved cargo dimensions of up to 57.0 meters in length and 5.7 meters in height, requiring specialized transport engineering, route planning, and precise execution. Plant Handling & Dispatch At Vatva, EXG deployed SPMTs (14+14 axle split combination) for internal movement, efficiently managing critical maneuvering challenges posed by the cargo length while navigating from the production bay to the ODC gate. Road Transportation to Dahej Jetty Heavy-duty hydraulic axle combinations (10+10, 14+14, and 10+8 with spacers) were utilized to ensure optimal load distribution, balance, and road safety. Barging Operations At Dahej Jetty, cargo loading was executed using 180T and 250T class barges supported by coordinated RoRo operations. • One shipment was discharged through a controlled beaching operation at Belapur Jetty. • The second shipment was handled via floating operations at JNPT, where 36 axle line SPMTs in rigid combination enabled synchronized roll-off under floating jetty conditions. All marine movements were executed in multiple lots and aligned with tidal windows to ensure safe navigation and seamless port operations. Final Delivery to Nagothane Following discharge at Belapur Jetty and JNPT, the cargos were transported to Nagothane using suitable hydraulic axle configurations. Key Challenges & Solutions The project involved extreme cargo dimensions, tight maneuvering, tidal dependencies, night operations, and multi-agency coordination. Through engineered planning, detailed route surveys, civil modifications, and permissions from GMB, MMB, DSL, DGVCL, MoRTH, and MSEDCL, EXG ensured safe and efficient execution.
